SAJFP notes the statement issued by the Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), which addresses the way Zionists are cynically exploiting the death of the Bibas infants to further support genocide in Gaza and the destruction of the West Bank.
We recognise and value the spirit of the PSC statement. We, too, are outraged by the purported grief displayed by Zionist organisations over the deaths of two Jewish infants, while such callous indifference has been shown to the deaths of thousands in Gaza who have been deliberately massacred by the IDF or else deliberately deprived of the necessities of life.
Like the PSC, we object in the strongest terms to what Israel alleges to be the cause of death of the Bibas infants. The head of Israel’s official Forensic Institute, Dr. Chen Kugel, has no credibility. After 7th October 2023, he claimed to have seen the burnt and headless bodies of multiple infants, which fuelled the propaganda campaign used to launch and justify Israel’s genocidal assault on the Gaza Strip. The story of beheaded babies was debunked, but not before great damage had been done.
It goes without saying that there has been no independent forensic investigation in the Bibas case. In fact, the PSC has correctly drawn attention to the abysmal ethical record of the medical profession in Israel, which is very much complicit in the violation of human rights.
We value—and are sensitive to—the manner in which the PSC has articulated how antisemitism is fed by the conduct of the SAZF and SAJBD. These two bodies not only attempt to legitimize racism and Islamophobia but also taint and endanger all Jews in the process. Neither the SAZF nor the SAJBD represent us—indeed, they stand in gross opposition to the Jewish values we know and cherish. We stand, with the PSC, for peace, freedom, and justice; and we, too, deplore such callous propaganda.
