Joshua Marcus responds here to a critique of anti-Zionist Jews and the SAJFP by Saks on behalf of the South African Board of Jewish Deputies. It is pointed out how this critique attempts to deflect attention from the ongoing atrocities perpetrated by Israel in Gaza. In doing so the argument recenters the urgent issue of the safety, dignity and fundamental rights of the Palestinians – and draws attention to how this has been sidelined for the full seventy-five years of Israel’s existence.
